3$ CAKE STAND
I love checking the local Goodwill for cheap house wares. As I was roaming the aisles of "stuff" one day I stumbled upon these candle holders and plates. I almost couldn't contain my excitement as I snatched them off the shelf and ran to the cashier. But what really put the cherry on top of this trip was that when I went to pay I found out all house wares were 50%. I think I skipped out of the store I was so thrilled. I paid .25 cents a piece for the candle holders and .50 cents a piece for the plates.
To affix the plates to the candles holders I used gorilla glue and set heavy books on top of the plates to make sure they got a good bond. I let the cake stands dry for several hours before I spray painted them with metallic gold spray paint. I ended up putting 3 coats of paint on them. Of course, make sure you let the paint dry in between each coat. Make sure to use a clear sealant coat after the your color dries, otherwise the cake stand will begin to chip. I am speaking from experience.
Since I have made these cake stands I have used them for several different events. They were so easy to make and really add a lot to a table. And at the price it cost to make you could make them in any color to match your event.
All the best,
Alice
